I believe that if you want to produce something special, you need to take the time to make it truly special. The longer you give yourself to get it done, the more you will see the difference it makes.

This is true in other artistic fields as well. We’re all so quick to say that a great painting is made for a single moment, but the same is not true in writing. The process of writing is like having a baby: it can take time and energy to figure out what it is you want to say and how to say it. If you don’t spend that time and energy, you’ll probably not be able to say the things you want to say.

If you spend more time writing, you can be sure you have the better skills for it. The same goes for drawing, painting, sculpture, cooking, and cooking better. For many of us, the hours we spend practicing a skill are the best years that we can have. You can improve your skills by spending more time practicing it.

I’ve been told that the hardest part of writing is finding the words. It’s true. If you’re not a good writer, you won’t have any words. If you write badly, you’ll have a lot of words.

Its like the opposite of the problem with drawing. If you can draw with a pencil, you can draw with a brush. You need both to be good. But drawing badly wastes your time because the brush is a tool (for you) and not a skill. If you want to be a good artist, you need to practice drawing.

And that is why I recommend writing long form, which I think is one of the best things I’ve ever heard anyone say about writing. It forces you to practice your writing skills. It forces you to put yourself in a particular mindset of writing. This mindset is all about practicing what you do, day in and day out. It’s not about making great art, it’s about practicing your craft with the confidence that you are a creative person.

Writing is often a solitary activity, but you can get a lot done if you find a group of people who can help you and you can all work together toward a single goal. I think it would be great to have a writing group that included artists. There are so many great writers out there, but I really think there is a need for more of them.

This is a topic that comes up a lot in my workshops. I’ve seen a lot of people who self-published, and a lot of them are writers. It’s great to have a creative community that is as supportive as that of a literary community. It’s so rare these days to find people who are willing to share their work with you.

So many people do self-publish, but they don’t do it for the wrong reasons. I think that is because the writers in a writing group are usually the ones who are writing for the first time. They don’t have the experience of publishing before, or the confidence to do it right. I think this is one of the biggest reasons.
